Jaime Alekos is an independent journalist based in Spain.
In the last four years, his coverage of the financial crisis in Spain and the refugee crisis in Greece has been broadcasted in all major Spanish TV channels.
His coverage of the evictions during the financial crisis is also featured in Frágil Equilibrio, winner of the Best Documentary Film award at the Goya Awards 2017.
He has worked for PACMA, researching and documenting animal abuse in Spain. These works have been published in almost every Spanish media and have been referenced overseas by The Associated Press, Politico, The Guardian and Univision, among others.
On August 29th, 2016, El País, the highest-circulation daily newspaper in Spain, ran an editorial based on his coverage of the becerrada of Valmojado, which got 28 million plays on Facebook.
In 2016 he was awarded with the Doctors of the World and eldiario.es Desalambre Award of Videojournalism.
